Here’s the first trailer for Pearl, the prequel to X

I think I can speak for horror fans and say we’ve been having a pretty good year. But it’s not often you get a prequel to one of the year’s best horror movies in the same year it was released. But in-comes Pearl, which tells the backstory of the villain of X.
The first trailer for Pearl sets a colour palette and tone different from that of X’s, but there’s still plenty of violence to go around.

After portraying both the villain and hero in X, Mia Goth is back as the young Pearl, and we get to explore her early years as she obsesses over being famous. Pearl was very jealous of Maxine in X, and it looks like there may be more than one girl that meets a bloody demise after getting picked over her by talent agencies and the boys.
What’s most interesting to me is how different Pearls home looks in this film compared to X, considering it’s the exact same set and was shot in quick succession following the film’s wrap-up. It’s a testament to director/writer Ti West and his art and production team.
In the comment section below, let me know if you’re excited to watch Pearl later this year. We do not have an Australia release date just yet, but as it’s A24, I wouldn’t hold onto it being too close to the September 16th American release date.
