If you enjoyed solving the island murder-mystery in Daganronpa 2, or similar murder-mystery games, Paradise Killer from developer Kaizen Game Works might be worth keeping your eye on.
In Paradise Killer, you’ll explore a get-away holiday island in search of clues in a first-person view as you search for clues. Although you’ll be able to point the finger at anyone on the island, you’ll need a rock-solid case when you take them to trial.
The gameplay seems to be a mix of conversations with branching narrative paths, exploration on the island and then a mixture of puzzles. Then there, of course, is the trial but I’m not sure how that’ll play out based on what’s been revealed so far.
The full description for Paradise Killer:
“An island outside of reality. A rogue human civilization hoping to resurrect dead alien gods. A murder behind locked doors.
Paradise is an island that regenerates every few millennia. The psychic power that the alien worshippers within release into the universe is meant to feed and eventually resurrect their fallen deities. But this force also attracts undesired interest from demons, who eventually corrupt each island — until a new alternate reality is birthed by the Council.
The system isn’t perfect, but it will be one day — on Perfect 25, the next island-to-be. But on the eve of rebirth, the Council is murdered and Paradise is killed.
In the aftermath, the “investigation freak” Lady Love Dies is summoned from exile to find the culprit. This is the crime to end all crimes.
What are the facts? What are the truths? Are they the same?”
Check out the trailer below for a look at the gameplay and some of the more exuberant characters – any of which could be the killer.
