Released during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference FInals, the Official trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder gives us our first look at Gorr the God Butcher, the main antagonist of the next entry in the MCU series.

Played by Chrisitan Bale, Gorr the God Butcher was created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic and first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder #1, January 2013. His goals are pretty straightforward, kill all gods, and is definitely appears a formidable opponent to Thor, Jane and their allies. Expectations are high for Bale’s performance with director Taika Watiti telling AP News “in my humble opinion, we have probably the best villain that Marvel’s ever had in Christian Bale.” There appears to be an interesting visual element to Gorr as well, with many of his shots appearing in greyscale, whether that’s a plot point or a bit of visual flair we’ll have to wait and see.

Also featured in the trailer is more of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster as Thor, throwing around lightning and utilising her broken Mjolnir in new and innovative ways. The relationship between her and Thor is sure to be delightful to watch.
