PAX Australia 2022 is right around the corner, and one of the must-see areas is the PAX AUS Indie Showcase. It’s here you can get hands-on with a bunch of upcoming Australian-developed games, support some local teams, and who knows? One of these very well could end up being your favourite game from the convention.

Box Knight
“A funny, silly and irreverent action RPG roguelike. A mix of ‘the Office’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ with a comic-like aesthetic.”
As someone who loves The Office and Castle Crashers, everything I’m seeing from Box Knight is grabbing my attention from humour, aesthetic and gameplay points of view.
“Gubbins is a friendly puzzle game where you make words with the help and hindrance of silly little pals called Gubbins. It’s kinda like solitaire x scrabble but with more friendly chaos.”
Gubbins looks like you’re playing Scrabble and have to deal with a slightly cute but annoying troll who’s flicking and playing with your letters. I love that kind of chaotic energy.
Tempopo
“Tempopo is a contemplative puzzle game about planning and execution, in which you restore a harmonious garden by rescuing musical flowers across sky islands.”
There are no gameplay videos available for this one yet that I could find, but it’s from WitchBeam Games, the team behind last year’s fantastic Unpacking, so there’s a pedigree to want to try this one out straight away.
TopplePOP Bungee Blockbusters

I played TopplePOP a couple of years back during 2020’s PAX Online and enjoyed its take on Tetris a lot. I’m keen to see how much the game has changed in the last few years.
