Sony had recently updated the PlayStation Trophy and Network system, but now we have a look at the new trophy images and the way the PS5 captures your trophy moments and pop on-screen.
Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller posted a video on the Kinda Funny Games Youtube channel that showed him getting his very first PS5 trophy, a bronze in Astro’s Playroom.
In the video, Miller explains that the PS5 captures video of your just before you earn, and for a few seconds following after you earn a trophy. The video even contains a graphic that shows the game titles, what type of trophy you earned and the name of the trophy.

When compared to the PS4 system, which captured a screenshot when you earned a trophy, this is a huge upgrade. Not only because this will lead to more socially sharable moments, but because the PS4’s screenshot feature often captured a blank screen.
The bronze in the video isn’t the only trophy image that’s changed either — they all have.
Here’s the set of Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze images that you can now find when you look at your own, or a friend’s trophies on the PlayStation App (which received a big update today).
However, we’re still awaiting more information on PlayStation Trophies on PlayStation 5. In the UI showcase a couple of weeks ago it looked like several trophy descriptions gave you rewards for earning them. Sony has yet to confirm this.
