Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Revealed as Prequel to the Series

Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment have developed a prequel to the Plague Tale series of games.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem and players will control Sophia, a character seen in Requiem, but here described as “a young plunderer on the run, but determined to uncover the secrets of her past.” She’ll head to Minotaur’s island, where she’ll explore, facing trials and puzzles, in search of what she desires.

The game will also switch between Sophia in the Middle Ages and ancient Minoan times as Sophia uncovers echoes of the past.

In a press release talking about the reveal of the game, David Dedeine, Chief Creative Officer at Asobo Studio, said the following:

“We wanted to expand and explore the world of A Plague Tale with a character – Sophia – that is very close to our heart but within a much more action-oriented experience. This fresh approach comes with intuitive and rewarding combats, as well as a brand-new manifestation of the Macula, the ancient evil. Resonance embraces themes, places and eras that we had never explored before. Taking on this challenge was only possible with Focus Entertainment, who knows our world inside out and with whom we share common trust and ambition.”

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
