If you thought there had been a little too much Marvel this year, strap in for more. Not only has the release of Black Widow kick the MCU back into gear in the cinema, but more Disney+ series are also on the way very soon.
During a conversation with Marc Malkin from Variety, Victoria Alonso, the executive VP of film production at Marvel Studios, let loose several exciting tidbits of information, as was reported by Variety themselves.
The first was that What If…?, which begins streaming on August 11th, won’t be the only MCU animated series. Alonso stated that Marvel is building a mini studio that will continue to work on animated programs in the future.
Alonso also noted that Ms Marvel and Hawkeye would be coming out before the end of the year. Both of which we’ve known for some time had completed filming. Still, it was unknown if just one of them would release later this year, especially as it seemed the treatment of the Disney+ MCU series we’d been receiving was primarily due to the ongoing pandemic. Initially, WandaVision, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier and Loki were spaced out much different around MCU movie releases. Instead, these shows have been the padding over the last year as a void of Marvel content was absent from cinemas.
Hawkeye will be an exciting series for those watching Black Widow and seeing the after-credits scene (no spoilers here). At the same time, Ms Marvel looks to introduce Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, to the MCU. The character was recently the star of Marvel’s Avengers video game.
