Epic and CD Projekt Red took to the stage at the ‘State of Unreal’ showcase and unveiled our first gameplay footage of The Witcher IV.

Although mostly a tech demo for The Witcher IV, in an event that’s targeted at developers, there’s, of course, stuff here for Witcher fans.

The demo is being played on a base PlayStation 5, and it looks gorgeous, with intensely lush forests. When Ciri makes her way to a local village, the demo showcases how interactive the people in the town are and how they’ll interact with one another. When Ciri bumps into someone carrying fruit, some kids run along to pick it up, for instance.

At the end of the tech demo, we get our first glimpse of a large city that players will visit in the game.

I also took note that when we see someone being thrown out of a bar, the note from one of the developers at CD Projekt Red is, “That’s what happens when you cheat at Gwent.” Seemingly confirming Gwent is returning in The Witcher IV.

Please check out the video below and share your thoughts on the tech demo footage in the comments section.
