Thirteenth Doctor Gives Off Sixth Doctor Vibes In New Years Special
by Dylan Blight
We have our first look at Jodie Whittaker in the upcoming New Years Day special of Doctor Who which is replacing the usual Christmas Special.
The special will air on New Year’s day, although we don’t have a confirmed air-time yet.
Chris Chibnall writes the episode which is directed by Wayne Yip, who has previously directed two episodes of Doctor Who (‘The Lie of the Land,’ ‘Empress of Mars’) from Peter Capaldi’s tenure. He also directed episodes of Happy! and Preacher showing he has a range going from family orientated to adult TV programs.
The synopsis for the episode leaves much to be desired, but we don’t know how the season will end as of yet with two episodes remaining as of writing.
As the New Year begins, a terrifying evil is stirring, from across the centuries of Earth’s history. As the Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz return home, will they be able to overcome the threat to planet Earth?
The cast lists the Doctor Who regulars. Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, Tosin Cole as Ryan, Bradley Walsh as Graham and Mandip Gill as Yaz returning, but no mention of a guest as of yet.

The final adventure of the 13th Doctor has her facing off against The Master, the Daleks and the Cybermen. We say goodbye to Jodie Whittaker and theorise about the future of Doctor Who.
