As Xbox works hard to finalize its deal to purchase Activision Blizzard, the company has hit Sony as a roadblock along with regulators. Recently, Xbox offered to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for another ten years to smooth things over, and this deal has now, surprisingly, been expanded to Nintendo.
Tweeted by Phil Spencer this afternoon, backed up his tweet stating that “Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play,” by announcing a ten-year deal to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo over the next ten years. He also mentioned that they’d continue to release Call of Duty on Steam.
Microsoft has entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to @Nintendo following the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play. @ATVI_AB

Of course, this is because the purchase of Activision Blizzard isn’t a huge deal by itself, but it’s the purchase of Call of Duty, one of, if not the biggest third-party IP that could have been made exclusive that regulators and Sony are worried about.
Phil’s tweet does sound like it’s a done deal, or it could be a way to show commitment to any that Xbox is continuing to meet with while they attempt to see this deal through to a close and stop having weekly meetings about it.
