The Nintendo Switch 2 has been revealed overnight, with Nintendo stealth-dropping a trailer for the console and details on an upcoming event that’ll pull back the curtain to give us more on the Nintendo Switch successor.
Most of the rumoured features for the Nintendo Switch 2 are confirmed in the trailer. It looks to have a larger screen; the Joy-Cons now “clap” on instead of clicking (so more snapping of fingers in Nintendo events, I guess). The USB-C charging is on top of the console now, and the new ‘C Button’ is shown in the video, although we’ll know more about that in an upcoming event, as no one seems to know what that’ll do.

The striking Black console, presumably the launch colour, starkly contrasts the original Nintendo Switch, which launched with and was promoted using neon colours.
Nintendo has announced that a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will air on April 2. The Direct will dive more into the hardware and its features. We’ll also presumably learn about some games, including what looks to be a brand-new Mario Kart game, as seen in the debut trailer.
Following the full reveal in April, Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events will occur worldwide, where fans can get hands-on with the console. One will take place in Melbourne, Australia, on May 10-11th, with tickets for the free event going live tomorrow morning, January 18.
