2019’s Oscar winner for Best Animated Short Film, Hair Love, is being turned into a 12-episode series at HBO Max titled Young Love.  

The short focused on the story of a young Black girl attempting to get help from her father in doing her hair. It’s just shy of seven minutes long, so I won’t spoil it all as you should defiantly watch it yourself. It’s a powerful short and got a well-deserved win at last years Oscars.

The new series will be 2D-animated with Cherry and Carl Jones in the showrunner positions. 

Young Love will focus on the same family that was introduced in the short.
