Yesterday AEW Games officially announced the long-awaited June 29th release date of AEW: Fight Forever.

The upcoming wrestling game has been in development by Yuke’s since at least early 2020. Most known for their work on some of the most popular WWE games and earlier NJPW games, this will be their return to wrestling video games after 2018’s WWE 2K19.

AEW: Fight Forever is pitched as “easy to pick up and play, but hard to master.” The game will go for an arcade feeling instead of an authentic realistic wrestling experience.

Kenny Omega, Executive Vice President at AEW and former AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion and inaugural Trio’s Champion, said:

“When I first signed with AEW, Tony Khan gave me the opportunity to assemble the best gaming team that understands and respects professional wrestling, to make the best wrestling games ever. Thanks to our incredible collaboration with Geta, YUKE’s and THQ Nordic, a new era of professional wrestling gaming is quickly approaching. AEW: Fight Forever has exceeded my highest expectations, and I’m confident that June 29 will be a momentous day for wrestling fans and gamers alike.”

AEW: Fight Forever will feature nine match types:

  • Single Matches

  • Tag-Team

  • 3-Way

  • 4-Way

  • Ladder Matches

  • Casino Battle Royale

  • Falls Count Anywhere

  • Unsanctioned Lights-Out (allows the use of weapons)

  • Exploding Barbed Wire Death Matches

Rumours that the game would be removing some of violence that AEW can be known for were also shot down when the official AEW Games Twitter account shared the following pictures.
