Around Midnight AEDT last night, Microsoft and 343 Industries showed off a six and half minute trailer focusing on the campaign of Halo Infinite and the first footage of Halo’s biggest campaign ever in over a year.

Within the trailer, they showed off the ‘new era of Halo’, boasting the improved art and visuals from the extra year of development, and it is looking like it will be a good bit of fun, showing off various bits of gameplay. We got a good look at the grappling hook, as Master Chief flew through the sky to take over a jet, using it to pick up weapons and fly towards brutes to deliver a defying punch, as well as various ground and flying vehicles and an array of weapons.

Story details were a little vague, but humanity seems to be in a disastrous situation, with Chief starting out on a mission to obtain a new weapon. This is a new AI who was created with the purpose of ‘locking down’ Cortana. Chief also does not seem to know what has happened to his previous AI buddy, and this has taken him to Zeta Halo, the planet on which Halo Infinite’s campaign has been set. The Banished Army has already spread across the surface, establishing outposts and strongholds to stand in Chief’s way. The trailer also gives us a good look at the wide-open spaces to be expired on Zeta Halo, as well as some subterranean bunkers.

Promising the to be Halo’s most wide-open and adventure-filled game yet, this trailer has inspired some confidence that the extra year has been.
