The Melbourne Documentary Film Festival (MDFF) has revealed its 2026 program, bringing another huge lineup of Australian and international documentaries to both cinemas and online throughout July.
The festival will run online from July 1-31, before returning to Cinema Nova in Carlton from July 7-19.
Leading this year’s program is Lady Everest, which tells the story of the first woman to summit Mount Everest. The documentary follows the historic climb that challenged expectations and changed mountaineering history. Music fans will also find plenty to enjoy, with Meet The Beatles exploring the rise of one of the world’s most influential bands, while Don’t Forget Me, Eddie Cochran looks back at the life and legacy of the rock-and-roll pioneer.

The festival also features a wide range of Australian stories, including A House for Humans, which explores disability care and community, Shark Kingdom and Croc Country, The Circle: Fire as a Tool for Healing Country and Community, Ag Fab – From Paddock to Catwalk, and Old Dogs, alongside documentaries tackling mental health and wellbeing, such as From Depression With Love and Play Dead!
In addition to screenings, MDFF 2026 will host filmmaker Q&A sessions and special events across the festival.
