FF7 Remake Trailer Thumbnial.png

In a surprise re-reveal in the May State of Play from PlayStation, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is back in action.

First revealed in 2015 and at the time being in development by CyberConnect2, the remake of Final Fantasy 7 has had a tumultuous history. Square Enix took the game back in-house and off CyberConnect2 in 2017 and things are looking a bit better now, but still, overall the game standouts from the original in this most recent trailer.

It’s worth noting everything shown in the trailer is from Final Fantasy 7’s first couple of hours, which sticks to the episodic plan that was supposedly in place for the title. Whether that’s still Square Enix’s plan is yet to be determined, but I for one loved what I saw in this trailer. It definitely feels and looks like Final Fantasy 7 but it’s offering enough new things that it’s not going to be just playing the same game, but prettier.
