Travel Around Australia Battling the Paranormal in HellSign

by Dylan Blight

Australian developer Ballistic Interactive has announced its debut title, HellSign, is coming to Steam Early Access on November 7.

Create a character and head out to different locations around Australia to solve paranormal cases — each offering new challenges to overcome and a new story to uncover.

HellSign is inspired by episodic monster-of-the-week shows like Supernatural, and it wears that influence with pride.

The press release explains more:

Focusing on a satisfying gameplay loop inspired by years of television paranormal hunting history, step into the shoes of a hunter as you travel around Australia investigating the unknown and taking down all manner of horrifying monsters — it’s just another day in the life, after all. After creating your character and choosing from a series of classes with unique abilities, dive into a non-linear narrative, taking on contract jobs as you make money and learn more about the creatures stalking in the night.

In the Early Access version, you’ll be able to play the first of three chapters and face off against three bosses and 13 creatures. It’ll be feature complete (with room for tweaks and improvements before full release) and offer around 10–12 hours of gameplay, with the full release supposedly containing 40+ hours.

It looks pretty interesting and will require plenty of thought going into cases — gathering clues and making sure you’re using the correct gear.
