Netflix is moving forward with another video game adaptation, this time a live-action series based on the ‘Persona’ series of games from Atlus.

We don’t know at this stage whether the series will be an original story with a combination of key elements you’d see in a Persona game or an adaptation of one of the games. To me, it would make more sense to focus on one of the more popular games, take Persona 5, my latest entry, and then work back, or jump around if it proves a success. Each season will stand on its own, much like the games, with audiences learning more about the ‘Velvet Room,’ a connective fabric linking all the games across seasons.

This news comes from Variety, which reports that Christopher Monfette is attached to write the series and to executive produce alongside Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Robert Atwood of 21 Laps, as well as Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson of Story Kitchen and Toru Nakahara from SEGA, who publishes the series of games.
