Recently, I had the opportunity to test a new product on the market: the Aecooly portable personal cooling fan. Over the past few months, I have been trialling the Flow Waist Fan, a compact, versatile, portable fan that can be worn in multiple ways. This device can be attached to your hip, rested on a desk, adjusted using its built-in leg, or even worn around your neck. It has been incredibly helpful while I’ve been working on my property.
When I first received this device, I couldn’t use it much because it was the end of winter and quite cool at my home. However, once spring arrived and the weather changed drastically, I started to appreciate its value. The fan has become somewhat of a travel companion, accompanying me to several end-of-season horse events, as well as to work and around the property.
I have found it particularly useful while operating the tractor on hot days and while doing yard work. However, it’s not as effective when I’m fencing or hammering, as the additional bulk isn’t well-suited to those tasks. That said, it works well when driving or operating machinery.
The compact design, combined with a high-flow fan, significantly enhances cooling while using the device. This multistage fan features five speed levels, with the fourth and fifth modes serving as turbo-cooling options. It produces a powerful airflow and offers a good runtime. While the first unit I received was damaged during transit and only worked for a week or two, the replacement they sent me has been functioning perfectly. I had hoped that the original unit might need a firmware update, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

The fan includes a built-in torchlight that can serve as both a flashlight and an SOS beacon in emergencies. This torchlight is compact and user-friendly, making it easy to handle in various situations. While I frequently relied on the fan for cooling on warm days, there were times when the torchlight proved useful. Its bright beam provided light in the dark, and knowing I had a reliable source of light available was a great addition.
The Aecooly Flow is a high-quality unit. While it may be somewhat bulky, it excels at providing relief from the Australian heat. There are several options available on the Acecooly website beyond this model. The Flow is ideal for day trippers and individuals who travel or work outdoors frequently. Its versatility makes it a valuable tool.
