Imprint Films has announced a Limited-Edition release of David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Dune.
Limited to 1500 copies, this new 4K Ultra HD release of Dune will be a big one for collectors of Lynch and Dune films alike. Even if you have a copy of Dune already, this is a special release, thanks to its packaging in particular.
The film and its three bonus discs come in a ‘Sandbox’ packaging, which features a tempered glass liquid sand panel with sand behind it, making it look like the film itself is trapped behind the sands of Arrakis.
Inside this heavy box, which measures 23 x 32 cm and weighs 1.5kg, come these extras as well:
- a full-colour matte laminated 27″ x 40″ folded print of the original poster;
- a reprint of the original official 1984 three-issue comic series;
- a hardcover booklet featuring 60 pages of photographs and original production material;
- a 3D Lenticular Hardcase housing all four discs;
- six art cards;
- a custom-made transparent PVC display case with anti-scratch film lamination
You can pre-order ‘Dune (1984) – Limited Edition Sandbox – 4K UHD + 3-Disc Blu-ray – Imprint Collection #426’ now on the Imprint store. It’s going for $209.95, but with a slight discount for the pre-order period, bringing the film down to $199.95.

Let me know if you’re going to pre-order this new Dune release in the comments section.
This is, by a wide margin, the worst big budget movie ever released. I know Lynch likes to blame the producers but he’s just as culpable; he wrote the script and he directed this pile of trash. No amount of control of the process after the fact could salvage this poorly conceived disaster. It’s a bad movie on its own merits but it’s unfathomably worse as an adaptation of Dune.
It rules, big style. Especially the SpiceDiver cut, which sadly appears to not be included here.
