AEW Double or Nothing 2020 predictions

AEW: Double or Nothing 2020 — Staff Predictions

When: Sunday, 24 May, 10:00am AEST

AEW: Double or Nothing 2020 is almost here. Here’s how we think it all goes down — in and outside the ring.

Private Party vs Best Friends

Buddy Watson: Hangman still owes Private Party $12 — . Private Party win.

Ciaran Marchant: My initial pick was Best Friends, but the ongoing feud with Havoc and Sabian swings it to the fan-favourite Private Party.

Dylan Blight: Private Party get a tough win over Best Friends as they work toward Hangman and Kenny.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Best Friends

Dustin Rhodes vs Shawn Spears

Buddy Watson: Would love Spears to be a major player in the TNT title picture; a win here helps.

Ciaran Marchant: Spears has had a slow start in AEW, so a win builds him into a heel to be feared.

Dylan Blight: Spears has a good showing, but Dustin wins. You can build Spears even in defeat, especially if someone comes to Rhodes’ aid — and Dustin deserves one after getting his ass beat lately.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Shawn Spears

Penelope Ford vs Kris Statlander

Buddy Watson: Upset win for Ford. With Britt out, AEW need more heels for the eventual Shida run.

Ciaran Marchant: With Britt Baker not wrestling, I don’t see AEW just handing Kris a win. Great chance to push someone from left field into the slot Britt leaves in the division.

Dylan Blight: Gutted Britt can’t go after her injury on Dynamite — I would’ve picked her. I’ll take her replacement, Penelope, to win.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Kris Statlander (by count-out)

MJF vs Jungle Boy

Buddy Watson: MJF — because he’s better than Jungle Boy, and we know it.

Ciaran Marchant: MJF is on his way to gold. Jungle Boy has been used to build talent early in his AEW run.

Dylan Blight: Jungle Boy gets revenge for the entire Jurassic Express and takes MJF down a notch. Hoping Luchasaurus sets up a match with Wardlow post-match.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — MJF

Casino Ladder Match

Darby Allin vs Colt Cabana vs Orange Cassidy vs Joey Janela vs Scorpio Sky vs Kip Sabian vs Frankie Kazarian vs Luchasaurus vs Mystery Entrant

Buddy Watson: If it’s not a new guy, I’d love it to be Wardlow.

Ciaran Marchant: This feels designed for Darby Allin. Since debuting he’s been a rising star — get him to Moxley in a future program.

Dylan Blight: Fénix was my original pick until his Dynamite injury. Money’s on Darby now. Mystery entrant? Pineapple Pete!

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Kip Sabian (TBC is EC3)

Stadium Stampede: Matt Hardy & The Elite vs The Inner Circle

Buddy Watson: Oh, you thought Vanguard 1 was dead? WRONG! It was an illusion (or Vanguard 2 as a vessel). How good is wrestling?

Ciaran Marchant: The Elite stood tall on the go-home Dynamite — often a tell — but Inner Circle need a win to keep their presence strong. The Elite aren’t afraid of losing, and it’s another chance for Hangman to turn his back on the group.

Dylan Blight: The Elite win a long, hard battle. Expect at least eight Matt Hardys and too many Superkicks to count. Then… The Revolt show up to start a fight with the Young Bucks as the dust settles.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — The Elite

AEW Women’s Championship: Nyla Rose (c) vs Hikaru Shida

Buddy Watson: Britt just went down hurt and she was building as the division’s major heel. If Shida wins, who challenges her now? Keep it on Nyla while they build up the other heels.

Ciaran Marchant: Since the start of AEW I’ve been a Shida fan. One-on-one instead of a multi-woman match, but she’s got a real chance to go over.

Dylan Blight: Tough match, but Nyla retains for now.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Nyla Rose

AEW TNT Championship Final: Cody vs Lance Archer

Buddy Watson: I love Cody, but building Archer as a monster only to have him fall at the first big moment would be a mistake. Cody keeps putting over talent. Iron Mike is gonna knock someone out — and I’m scared it’s Cody.

Ciaran Marchant: Cody’s been the workhorse — elevating up-and-coming talent. With this feud, it’s fitting Cody takes the mid-card title to keep building others without hurting Archer too much.

Dylan Blight: Tough call. Archer as an unstoppable machine is enticing, but this is the only belt Cody can go for and he needs the win. Cody gets revenge for his family — and finally a title.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Lance Archer

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs Brodie Lee

Buddy Watson: Mox is a one-man wrecking ball and needs to stay that way. I see Omega taking it off him at All Out to go full circle.

Ciaran Marchant: Moxley’s been built too well to drop it here, but this won’t be clean or the end. Expect Dark Order shenanigans and maybe a DQ.

Dylan Blight: No way Mr. Brodie wins, belt theft or not. You can keep the Dark Order story going even with a loss. Mox stays champ and takes his belt home.

Bonus: Ashley Hobley — Jon Moxley
